My great-grandfather left Malmo in April 1880 on the ship "Patriot". It is clear that this was a feeder ship (it carried passengers for all the big trans-Atlantic lines like Allan, Cunard, etc.). It was in service with a sister ship, the "Alexandra", with a regular weekly schedule, each ship leaving in alternating weeks. What I can't find is what company operated the "Patriot", nor which port in the UK it sailed to. Neither it not the "Alexandra" appear on the ships lists of the major feeder line companies (e.g., the Wilson Line or DFDS). But it was clearly a major feeder ship. Does anyone know who operated these ships and what their routes were in 1880 (or at any time for that matter)?
