My 4th Great-Grandfather Christian emigrated from Germany sometime in the 1830's I believe. According to a census record, he was born in Bavaria/Bayern, Germany. According to a family record he said he was born in a town on the Rhine river. The only problem seems to be that the Rhine doesn't go through Bavaria. I think during the Holy Roman Empire at the time it may have, but does anyone have any thoughts on this?
