Hi,
the ship list ( arrival Oct 4th, 1921, NY, vessel Mount Clinton, dep. Hamburg Sep 22nd ) tells us that Helene Abraham did live in Berlin before she left Germany. Obviously she did not live with her family there as she stated a friend, Lotti Stiebel in Fasanenstr. 67, Berlin, as nearest "relative" in Germany. Stated place of birth was Margonin http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Margonin which had belonged to Prussia in the periods 1772 till 1807 and 1815 till 1919. Her uncle had paid the passage and he( Otto Meinhard in Montclair, NJ) was the relative she wanted to join. So Otto should have been a brother to Helen´s mother.
I find an Otto Meinhardt in the 1910 and 1920 US and in the 1915 NY census(1915 married to a Hattie with daughters Mildred * abt 1910 and Edna * abt 1912 ), 1920 with the matching profession hotel manager, 1910 and 1915 waiter. Obviously he had a 2nd wife as in 1930 there is a John A Meinhardt ( name and year of birth obviously somewhat adjusted??) in 1930 with wife Hortense and daughters Mildred and Edna.
He can be found on several pages in the internet (Hotel in Cambridge). There seem to be descendants with Forste surname in NY.
There is a family tree at ancestry.com but seems to have some wrong data and no father for Otto.
Last find: Draft registration WW I date of birth Oct 21, 1877.

Kind regards,

Thomas
