Probably like many here, I have ran into a dead end on a relative. Her name is Mary Anna Penkalska.
Obituaries and Death Certificates show that she is indeed the mother of my mothers fathers mother, Helen E. Miller. My grandfather always said that they were polish immigrants. This proved to be true in census records and they say she immigrated from Galicia/Poland. They show her birth date to be approx. 1874.
My issue is that, though I have found translations of the name Mary in Polish, I am not sure if that was really her first name because most records for emigration were for "Maria" and "Anna" (Mary Anna is never together). Also, I read in forums that Penkalska could also be Penkalski.
The image I attached is my great grandmothers death certificate. It has the two names of her parents. Ignace, according to census, is really Ignatz (the children on the census clarified the right person.) The middle name of Anna was retrieved from an Obituary of George Gorecki.
Could someone possibly help me piece this puzzle together? Any tips and tricks would be greatly appreciated!
