James Richard BRYANT, London to New Zealand 1952, and Alice KEANE

Hello, any help would be much appreciated with this one please.

My Uncle, James Richard Bryant emigrated to New Zealand on 11 June 1952, leaving London on this date. In 1953 he married Alice Keane. I cannot find when Alice left England/Ireland but I know they didn't travel together as Uncle Jim emigrated and Alice followed him at some point and obviously before 1953 when I have been told they married. Is anyone please able to find out when Alice left England/Ireland or even the date she arrived in NZ and also their marriage. If possible is there any chance of finding out when Unlce Jim arrived in New Zealand?

Uncle Jim was born 15 August 1910 and I believe Alice was born in 1915 also in Ireland.

Any help, as above, would be greatly appreciated.

Kind regards

Kathryn

Hi, I would be very interested to know exactly where you found the info, re: Paddy V Lewis immigrating to New Zealand. I was given the info by a family member, but they were very vague about it and haven't found any factual evidence. But you might of been lucky, hence my interest. Hope you can help.
Thanks.
Gilly

She was Born Hannah Eley 1890 Pilsley, Derbyshire, England. She was a trainee nurse in Mansfield Hospital in the 1911 census. All we know is that she nursed in WW1 and that she met and married a New Zealand Serviceman and that is where it all dries up, she did not marry over here, her (either) children or grandchildren came over in the late 1970's but nobody can remember their surname. They would have come to kirkby in Ashfield, Nottinghamshire, England, which is where all their relatives would have been.
I am working on the theory that she nursed wounded service men back to New Zealand, there is no trace of her on passenger ships but I believe that that is not unusual as if she was on a troop ship then I understand that the people on board were not listed as passengers.

I am trying to locate information about the arrival in New Zealand of my Great Grandparents, Andrew and Annie Cook nee Hunter. They were married in Alexandria, Bonhill, Scotland on 5 December 1884. They left soon after for NZ where Andrew farmed at West Plains, Southland. Annie gave birth to Jessie Alexander Cook in 1885 and John Hunter Shaw Cook in 1887. Andrew died in Dunedin 29 July 1915 and Annie died in Hastings 24 January 1942 aged 85. I am interested in what ship they came out on and the dates and places of departure and arrival.
Peter Trask

Hi Joyce
Great that you have the name of the ship your grandfather travelled on. There has been nothing in my grandfathers belongings (papers etc) to say which ship he travelled on. Have tried various sites with no luck but will try the P & O ships. Were these ships travelling in the years 1895? My grandfather was a shale miner from Scotland and they seem to have the Clark and Clarke spelt both ways in various documents I have come across.

There are a number of sites in New Zealand where you should be able to access information about arrivals into New Zealand. e archives.govt.nz is a good place to start. It is a real minefield as you will be aware. You might need to pay for the inforamtion like a lot of the sites are charging these days. I myself am trying to find what ship my grandfather came on to NZ in 1895, it is like a needle in a haystack.

Where to look for passangers coming to New Zealand

I'm trying to find out when two members of the family came to New Zealand. The first is Edmond Foley. I'm not sure where he was born but would have been around 1850. The second is his wife Eliza Dunn who he married in New Zealand in 1873. I don't know where she was born either and thought that if I could find the passanger lists with them on I might find out more about them???

Hi. Does anyone know where I can look up passanger lists for arrivals to New Zealand? I'm trying to find out when my ancestor Edmond Foley came to NZ as I don't have any info on where he was born etc so thought this might help. He was probably born in either England or Ireland around 1850. He is listed in NZ electrol rolls as a settler so I know he wasn't born in NZ. I just don't know where to sorce passanger lists for NZ.
