There was more than one "Aorangi". The one you are looking for would most probably have been the one built in 1924 owned by the Union Steam Ship Company of New Zealand. I'd try looking for their archives, or alternately enquire where NZ recorded deaths on ships under their flag. Deaths at sea were recorded separately for ships under the British flag but were kept along with the ordinary BMD records. Hope this helps.
