Is there any way to prove that a person died at sea? My grandmother's first husband (Battista Mochen) and his first wife (Eda Valentini) were traveling back to Italy with their 2 small children to visit family. Relatives say she died at sea; however, she appears in the ship lists returning to America months later. I am trying to prove that my grandmother "assumed" the deceased woman's identity and came to America. I can verify that she married this man days after arriving in Colorado. She also listed this ship on her naturalization application. Any suggestions???
