I just posted an old newspaper story listing the names of passengers bound from New York to California on the steamer "Alaska." The article doesn't specify the California port of arrival, nor the exact dates of departure or arrival. I haven't yet finished indexing their names (full name index), but the surnames in this passenger list include the following: KNIGHT, HYATT, BLAIR, NELSON, CORTIS, PATSCALL, SAWTELLE, TOWNSEND, JONES, WILLIAMS, FARGO, JEFFRAS, HARRINGTON, McDANIELS, MYRES, SARLS, COURS, REILLEY, ADAIR, WHEELER, NYE, WALTES, UPTON, PULLEN, GIBSON, RYDER, HASKILL, SIMONS, POTTS, CONRADE, BRASNAHO, LENRO, WEST, KIRK, TAYLORS, HASLO, BUCKINGHAM, McLAIN, BARGION, BADGER, CLASBY, ADDINGTON, FOX, WELCH, DAVIS, ESTLE, CHILDS, TAALBURG, HORN, IRVINE, MOODY, SANDERS, DALLAS, SMITH, AMBAND, MINENSAGUE, JACOBS, GOLDSTONE, WINES, WILSON, IRVINE, STACKLER, THORNE, HORNBECK, WHITE, SCHENEBLER, GREENBAUM, LIBBOLD, STROWBRIDGE, STACHHOUSE, ESPRIELLA, SOLIS, BUSTAIRES, ASHE, HARPER, BAILEY, BALLARD, SUTTON, CUMMINGS, LEE, BAMFORD, JOHNSTON and DONELSON.
This was scanned from an original issue (NOT microfilm!) of The Marysville Daily Appeal newspaper (Marysville, California) dated April 16, 1869, and you can see it online here:http://theoldentimes.com/passtoca04161869ca_1.html
I hope it's helpful!
