Hi Kathe,
Glad I could help and there was no problem repeating some information! You have a good excuse :) I hope you have a successful recovery.
I have some additional information from the 1930 census:
Your father and his parents and brothers were living at 148 Brooklyn Ave. in Brookhaven, New York and Frederick's occupation is listed as investment broker. They were renting the home for $100.00 a month. Frederick and his wife were married between 1909 and 1910 when he was 26 and she was 27. It states in this census that Aestella (Stella?) was born in Iowa with her father born in New York and her mother in Ohio. It states that Frederick was born in New Jersey, his father in Germany and his mother in New York. Byron was born in Illinois and Philip, Kenneth and Harold were born in New Jersey.
In 1918, Frederick Ernest Voegelin Jr. registered for WW1. He listed his birthdate as February 24, 1884 and his age as 34. He listed his residence as 352 Ridgewood Road, South Orange Countyy of Essex, New Jersey. He listed his occupation as "Banking-Confidential Assistant" at the "J.P. Morgan & Co." in New York City. His nearest relative is listed as "Aestelle D. Voegelin, wife".
Frederick Ernest Voegelin Jr., age 58, registered for WW2 on April 25, 1942. His birth date is listed as February 14, 1884 (day was a mistake). He listed his residence as 7 Francis Place in Montclair, County of Essex, New Jersey. He listed himself as self-employed with his business at his residence. The nearest relative listed was his sister Matilda C. Voegelin at the same address as Frederick. He is listed as 5'10" and 160 pounds with gray eyes, gray hair and dark complexion. Also listed was that he had a scar on his left forehead and left index finger.
Regarding the passport application on December 23, 1919 for your grandfather that I mentioned in my previous message. Here is some additional information from that application:
His father, Frederick E. Voegelin Sr., was living in Montclair, New Jersey at the time and it is stated that he came to the USA in 1866-1867 from the port of South Hampton and that he became a citizen on September 17, 1875 in Newark, New Jersey. Frederick E. Voegelin Jr., was living at 23 Wall St., New York City, NY and listed his occupation as "Banker". He was going in January 1920 to Cuba for "banking business" for the "J.P. Morgan & Co.". He was going to sail on the "S.S. Mexico" from New York and be gone about a month. He obviously used his passport to go to England later in 1920. Now, for a surprise!! There is a picture of Fred Jr. attached to the application!! If you give me your email address by sending me an email, I'll send you the application via an attachment and then you will have a picture of your grandfather :)
More info to follow.
