Hello! This is all wonderful! Maybe I have a family somewhere, that I can actually meet relatives.
Mildred C. Voegelin DID marry, but no children. Fred Mulhiesen (spelling?) They loved cats, and oddly, I actually have a picture of him with one of their beloved Persians. She said her husband was a jeweler, and as a result, she had some blindingly lovely rings, and a pouch of loose diamonds, she liked to flash. There was some talk, that I am not sure whether was joking, or? of her husband replacing good diamonds with lesser ones when he cleaned/repaired customers jewelry. I saw the diamonds once, but no idea what happened to ANY of her belongings, except I have her nursing pins, and one ring, obviously custom made, gold, with her intials in a shield design. She died in a hospital, in Smithville, Tennesse, her body, sadly, "going to science," and her belongings either lost in a house fire she'd had, or possibly to my mother(?). All I know about her husband is that he left her a "life right" to their home in New Jersey, and after she died, it was to revert back to his children by a former wife. She went ahead and rented the house to her step-children and they paid her rent, which helped her with her condo expenses in Sarasota, Florida, where I first met her. That was in the late 60's/early 70's (?) I don't know how long she had been living there. She moved in with my mother in Smithville, Tennessee, in the late 70's, but my mother and I were already estranged.
Thanks wieland! Are you a Voegelin?? Do you have pics or anything of the early ones?
