Classification: Query
Surnames: St. John, Sohn, Son, Dolmage, Switzer
Looking for ancestors to Philip St. John married to Ann Dolmage in late 1700s County Limerick, IRE. The names Sohn and Son are thought to have evolved to St. John. These last two were likely brothers from Germany that made their way to Ireland with the Palatines: Elias and Philip, in the early 1700s. With emphasis on French pronunciation of St John or Sohn, it could make origination actually France and that it is possible that they went east to Germany with the Hugenauts to escape religious persecution before there leaving for England (Ireland). Both brothers were in the Holland emmigration lists.
