If they left from the same port, it's possible they met there and then met up again when they arrived at Castle Garden. It was "love at first sight."
I know of another family who was told their great grandparents came to the U.S. on the same ship. The family assumed this is how they met and married and this is what they told their children and grandchildren.
They not only came on the same ship, but were from the same village. The manifest shows their great grandmother was married and came to the U.S. with three children to meet with her husband, who she divorced within a year. Their great grandfather came on the same ship weeks earlier and was traveling with the great grandmother's husband!
