Museum at Castle Garden?

We are planning a trip to NY City in the summer of 2012. We have ancestors who came through Castle Garden, so we want to visit there. (We do have access to Ancestry.com and have found the ship manifests showing their arrivals.) What we want to know is this--is there a museum at Castle Clinton that tells the history of the immigration depot? We tried calling, but all we got was voice mail. We want to see photos taken at the time that Castle Garden was the immigration depot. If such a museum does not exist at Castle Clinton, where might we see such items? An article written in 1870 about Castle Garden stated that each immigrant was asked his/her birthplace and destination. What became of those records (they are not on Ancestry).
