Ahhh....I have heard this too...That "en" was Danish and "on" was Swedish or Norwegian. But then you research census records for the US and it all falls apart-SO frustrating! I have been noticing the name changing as well-from generation to generation. Does this apply to both male and female chiidren? And I am wondering, did Danish women take their spouses surname? Searching for my Danish relatives has been the toughest....
