Danish surnames

I am trying to research my Danish grandparents and I need some help.
Is there someone out there who can explain Danish surname practices? A few years ago, I took a college course on the litarary works of Hans Christian Andersen, that was taught by a professor of Danish (he himself was from Denmark). The professor, in explaining the spelling of Andersen's surname, that those of wealth have spellings with "on," while those of lesser wealth have spellings with "en." This is the extent of my knowledge. Are there any other common practices that might help me in my search for my ancestors....
Also-does the Danish alphabet have a letter "z"? Wondering because my gggrandmothers name is listed as Elizabeth in my ggrandmothers obituary, but I rarely see this name in census records, but rather Elisabeth or Elsie or Else. Just wondering.

I was recently given the billfold for Harold Henry Heininge from Denmark who died in 1914 in Iowa. He had 4 newspaper clippings in his wallet, and it looks to me like they are birth announcements but I'm not sure. Could someone translate for me? Just the main details. I would really appreciate it. Attached are the scans.

Danish Bible - and certificate from Vermont

I am a member of a genealogical society in Southern California. We have been given a Danish Bible to put on our shelves but it is in such bad shape that we are not able to save it for shelf use. However, there is a certificate to the DELPHIAN SOCIETY (Troy Conference Academy) from Poultney, Vermont dated 1905.
There are also a couple of surnames written in the front of the book:
JONES
ROBERTS
DAVIES
WILLIAMS
The inscription is dated 1904.

If anyone might think they are 'related' to this Bible, please let me know.

jamie johnson hunter member of OCCGS

Help find Jenny Christensen, left Copenhagen 8 Nov. 1906

I am looking for the immigration record for Jenny Meta Christensen, coming to the USA. She left Copenhagen, Denmark on 8 Nov. 1906. She is 18 and from Vejle County, Denmark. She left on the ship "Indirekte" which means a Feeder Line, and she was going to Racine, Wisconsin. I'm not sure where she landed in the USA.
There is a Jenny Christensen on Ellis Island records, but she arrived in NY on April 3, 1906, no age listed, no hometown, on the ship Hellig Olav.
There is also a Jenny K. Kristensen, age 14, arriving on Nov. 26, 1906 from Vejle, Denmark. But she's 14! On the ship: Caronia. There is another 14 year old on the ship: United States, arriving on April 20, 1906.
Any suggestions or help! THANKS!

Mads Eskildsen - Castle Garden, Ancestry...HELP

This is another attempt to find out the name of the ship my ggf, Mads Eskildsen; his wife, Ane Marie Sorensen; and his children, Soren, Nettie, William, Tony, Mary, Tillie, Anton, Josephine, and Lena Madsen sailed when they immigrated to America.
I have a copy of his declaration of intentions which states that he was born in Denmark on or about 1831; that he immigrated to th US and landed at the port of New York on or about April 1881. This would led me to believe that I would find his name either in Ancestry or possibly Castle Garden. He is not there. Possibly his name is so mangled that I have not found it. Would appreciate any suggestions relating to this matter.
Thanks

Denmark to America in 1881

My great great grandparents emigrated to America in 1881. Names were Christian Andersen, Karen Christine (she went by christine) Andersen, In some records they say that there first child was born in Denmark Minnie. She was born in July of 1881 which would mean they traveled after July. I am not sure of where there port of entry is. I have searched on the internet but I am not too seasoned when it comes to looking for this. According to the records I have they were married in July 31, 1880. in Sjelland Soderup Denmark. Hand their first child in Denmark in July 1881 and left for America in 1881. Christian Went by Chris would of been 23 to 24 years of age. Karen Christine would of been 20-21 years old. Minnie a fraction only an infant. If anyone can help me find this or direct me in the direction I need to go to look for the name of the Ship and the passenger list I would appreciate it.

Danish Translation

I recently found a note inside my Grandmother's Bible, written in Danish. It is a formal, printed note, dated 1886, with the blanks filled in in handwriting. It is on blue paper and looks like a certificate of some kind. She was born in 1882, so I am thinking it might have something to do with Sunday School. Could someone please translate the heading for me, which would give me a clue as to what it is? The heading reads:

Kokoppe-Indopdnings Atteft (could be Attelt).

I'd try to copy the whole message if someone was willing to translate it.

Thank you,

Judy

How to check on Immigration

I am needing help in trying to determine how to find out where in Denmark my grandfather might have come from. Facts I have: First papers with the date date of arrival in America as May 1, 1887. A letter from his mother with the name Stene Jorgenson--however, he went by the name of John Hans Johnson. He had a sister who had immigrated about four years earlier and was listed as Jorgenson. I have checked the Danish Emigration site and have received no matches. I have also checked ship records that are on-line and have found no matches for the date. Can anyone out there suggest what to do next? I have been stymied for quite some time.

Hans Anderson obituary 1913 - Tampa Tribune

"DANE IS CRUSHED TO DEATH UNDER WAGON - WHEEL BREAKS ANDERSON'S RIBS CAUSING RUPTURES - Foreigner Had Been In City Only Two Months - Falls Off High Stack of Feed and is Run Over -
Crushed fatally under the wagon which he was driving, Hans Anderson, a Dane, was removed at 11:30 o'clock yesterday morning by Policeman W. W. Carter and others at Tampa and Hillsboro streets. A big wagon drawn by a span of mules and laden heavly with feed, had passed over the Dane's chest, snapping the ribs and rupturing arteries. He lived only five minutes.
An eyewitness to the accident said the driver toppled off a stack of sacks, on which he had a high seat, and fell between the wagon and the mules. A sack fell to the pavement at the same time. The thud accelerated the pace of the mules which drew the left front wheel against the driver, dragged his body ten feet and rolled the wheel across his prostrate body.
In the city only two months, Anderson was employed at Barco's dairy on the Boulevard. He came here from Sacramento, Cal. Like most men who have passed the half century mark, he told of having once a "stake" which he had lost - in Anderson's case it was lost in Mexican land speculations. He was fifty-three years old. He is not known to have any relatives in this part of the world.
Coroner Hanna, who was notified, ordered J. L. Reed to take charge of the body, and to search the dead man's clothes. The dead man had nothing more than a pocket knife and a bill for the feed, which was found in his hat band. The bill showed the feed had been purchased from Ennis & Hudgins. After hearing the circumstances, Coroner Hanna did not see the necessity of holding an inquest.

Published in The Tampa Morning Tribune, Saturday, September 6. 1913, p. 5.
