I'm looking for the identity of an Isaac G. Rice, born Russia ca. 1883, who reportedly arrived at Ellis Island ca. 1905. Undoubtedly "Rice" was not his original surname but was a name he adopted upon settling in the U.S. (Yes, I know, his name was NOT changed at Ellis Island, but sometime later).
At the time of the 1910 Census he was living in Philadelphia in the household of Louis Biernbaum and worked in the clothing business (very likely working for Mr. Biernbaum). This census indicates he arrived in the U.S. in 1905. Family oral tradition indicates he came to the U.S. on a ship that disembarked in New York, possibly at Ellis Island.
Isaac moved to Steubenville, OH and married Marceline Brady in Hancock County, WV, 14 Mar 1918. The family lived alternately in Panama and Monrovia, CA. Isaac d. in Panama in 1931.
