Seeking informaiton on how someone would have traveled from Port Huron, Michigan to the Upper Peninsula of Michigan (Houghton in particular)in 1880.

PETITION FOR NATURALIZATION
The Circuit Court of County of Houghton, Michigan at Houghton, Michigan.
Petition of Gaspard MICHAUD hereby filed, respectfully showeth.
My place of residence is Lake Linden, Houghton Co., Michigan.
My occupation is Laborer.
I was born on the 25th day of December, anno Domini 1860, at St. Damien, Canada.
I emigrated to the United States from Montreal Canada, on or about the 28th day of September, anno Domini 1880, and arrived in the United States, at the port of Port Huron, Michigan, on the 1st day of October, anno Domini 1880, on the Grand Trunk Railroad."
