I believe the origins of Daniel Delozier the oldest known Delozier found in America are based on calculations and presumptions.
The 1776 census in St. John's & Prince Georges Parishes, Prince Georges County Maryland showes this group:
Edward Delozier 53 b 1723
Ann Delozier 50 b 1726
Male 90 b 1686 (maybe Ed's or Ann's father)
Female 20 b 1756
Male 19 b 1757 (maybe Jesse)
Male 14 b 1762 (maybe Asa
Female 11 b 1765 (maybe Rhoady)
Male 9 b 1767
Male 5 b 1771 (maybe Edward)
The birthdate of Daniel (1686) is taken from this record but nowhere has it been shown that this person, age 90, is acutally Daniel. It could have just as easily been Ann's father as it is Edward's.
Even if this is in fact the right Daniel I don't find any documented information on his birthplace is France. It is very likely that he was from France because Delosier is not an unusual name there.
The spelling of the name sometimes shows the various pronunciations - Delozear with an "ear" at the end; Deloziea with an "e-ay" at the end; and Delosure - just like it looks, De-low-sure. I see the Pa Delozier's mostly used the Z and the Maryland Delosier's mostly used the S.
And then there are the French one's in Ste. Genevieve Missouri, in 1794. The "Pierre Charles Dehault Delassus Et De Deluziere" who's decendents went by either Delassus or Deluziere.
I think until we know more about Daniel we should keep our options open.
