Hi
I've looked this name up on my database (about 140 Huguenot records searched)and the m,ain problem is that there are so many variations it's impossible to work out which of the variously spelled COCK/E/ERELL people may fit in. There are no Walter COCK/E/ERELLs on it either.
Walter isn't usually a French given name, much more likely to be Walloon (Belgium) or Dutch (or English) in origin, especially at that time.
What makes you think that the family may be Huguenot
