Dated the 6th of March 1879

Andrea DIOGUARDI - age 46 - was the declaring person making the statement that his son Salvatore was born at 3:06 am on the same day - 6th of March, 1879.

The baby was also present at the town hall with his father when he gave the statement.

The mother of the child was Grazia RIZZO (no age provided)

The rest of the information on this document shows the other witnesses present at the town hall when Andrea DIOGUARDI made his statements.

Dated the 16th of October 1887
Andrea DIOGUUARDI - age 48 - was the declaring person making the statement that his son
Giovanni was born on the 13th of October at 11:50 am.

The mother of the child was Grazia RIZZO - no age mentioned

One of the witnesses present was LOMONTE Pietro … no relationship mentioned..

Please note the age of the father on both documents.. and the timeframe… sons are 8 years apart, but father Andrea has only aged by 2 years.

But definitely the same family group.

Marriage Record of Anna’s Parents

Santo GEBBIA and Caterina LoMONTE

https://familysearch.org/pal:/MM9.3.1/TH-1951-32359-16315-84...

Since the entire document was written in script, it’s hard for one to look at a specific place to get information. But I’ve circled the area’s that may help… Since cursive script is unique to everyone.. it can be challenging to translate.

It says Santo GEBBIA age 23, native and resident, (of Mezzojuso) son of the late Paolo and Rosa PERCONTI

and

Caterina LoMONTE, age 20, resident of Mezzojuso, daughter of Cristofero and daughter of the late Anna DIOGUARDI.

Please note that Caterina was of minor age, so a letter of permission must have been presented by her father. Her father may have been present at the time they announced their marriage plans at the town hall. So.. Marriage Banns can be searched.. quite the paper trail though.

The Mezzojuso records at FamilySearch site are random. There are years missing from the group.. so doing a page by page search is time consuming… that’s how I found Giovanni’s Birth Act.

Oval #

1. Santo Gebbia
2. “Ventitre” age 23
3. furono “of the late” Paolo (Gebbia) and Rosa PERCONTI
4. Caterina LoMONTE
5. “venti” age 20
6. “figlia d’ Cristofero.. “ daughter of Cristofero (LoMONTE)
7a. “della fu Anna “of the late Anna
7. DIOGUARDI.. continuation of Anna’s name.. so yes, there is a DIOGUARDI in Anna Gebbia's family and not seeing double. But since they were from the same town.. not at all uncommon to see repeating surnames.. and it doesn't mean they were related.. we haven't proved that yet..

Words such as “fu” or “furono” are indictations that the person had passed away.. “of the late” .. etc.
