I'm looking for information on Jacob Merkil, believed to be the son of Richard (sp?) Merkil, born in Stone Arabia County, NY State in the mid-1700's. His daughter Jean (sometimes called Jane) married Donald McDonald (sometimes called Macdonnel/Mcdaniel). His will states he was living in Osnabruck in Upper Canada when he passed. Specifically looking for his burial records and/or information on his wife - or wives - so as you can see I have very sketchy information but am willing to dig if sent in the right directions.

Palatine immigrants on the Hunterlist 1710

In 1710 Johannes Lamet from Holland (Rotterdam) immigrated to New York together with 3000 Palatine refugees. He married to one of them:Elizabetha Vogel. In 1712,they got a son in Westcamp(Ulster) : Johannes Lammert (surname a bit changed, deliberately or by mistake?).He married in 1739 to Anna Sybilla Zufelt.
They got 5 children Lammert etc.etc.
Probably there are people of the surname:
"Lammert,Lamert,Lammertsz,Lahmer,Lamer,Lambert" today in the USA who are descendents from that couple.
In 1697 was born in Holland: Johannes Lamet, my ancestor.
Parents not to be found in Holland.Assumption in (very) short: Johannes Lamet the immigrant lost his first wife in Holland and is the father of Johannes Lammert born 1712 in New York as well as of Johannes Lamet (1697-1775) in Holland.Question:is it possible to find a today living descendent of Johannes Lammert / Anna Sybilla Zufelt ?
Thank you in advance,
Johannes Martinus Lamet (Hans)

Fitzell/Heavener/Cooper/Piper/Bovenizer - help

Hi this is my first posting and was hoping like crazy that someone could help me. Firstly, I'd just like to say that l think everyone connected to an Irish Palatine is somehow related.

Okay my ancestor is Matilda Fitzell who immigrated to Australia.
Her parents were Adam Fitzell who married Anne Heavener and then later Maria Jones. (Anne died in childbirth).
Adam and Ann had a truck load of kids as well as Adam and Maria. Hence why most of the kids went to Australia, NZ, Canada and US.
Adam is the one driving me crazy, as there are so many Adam Fitzell's l dont know his parentage.
I can tell you that he married Ann Heavener on the 4th Nov 1856 Chapel Russell, Limerick.
Ann Heavener's parents were John Heavener and Lillias (or Lily) Cooper. John was b 4 Jun 1795 his parents were William Heavener (c 1750) and Mary Seale (c 1760). William's father was John.

Lilly's parents were John Cooper and Ann Bovenizer (b1766). Ann's parents were Michael Bovenizer (c 1734) and Barbara Piper from Killenheen area.

If any of these names ring any bells to someone could you please help me out. I would be happy to share any info.

Thanks
Lauren

Palatine Loyalists/Tories

"My" Palatines came to New York State in 1710 via England, courtesy of Queen Ann. A long, sad story. Their first winter they lived on boiled grass & wild game. )I always think of them when the weather turns cold and I start complaining.)
Along came the American Revolution. "My" Palatines had signed an oath of allegiance to the Crown at the time of their indenture. The family split; some stayed loyal to the Crown, others did not. The "Loyalists" lost everything they had worked for. King George granted them land in Canada.
Then came the St Lawrence Seaway project, flooding the homes, farms and cemeteries of my ancestors and further splitting families.
Just some thoughts on a cold winter's morning...
I do not have any personal accounts of my relative Matthias Kramer but know this was a shared experience with many others who might have left accounts of the sailing etc.

Thank you!

Does anyone have any information for the Rombough /Rumbaugh /Rambach family settled eastern NC near the New Bern area? Francis Rombough witnessed the will of my probable ancestor in 1764. Also found a William Rombough about 1800 in Edenton NC. Both of these were colonial sea ports used for trading primarily. Information indicates William Rombough was perhaps in some sort of shipping business as he owned a shipyard. Palatines were some of the initial settlers of New Bern. Any information appreciated.

My 'Palatine' great (x many) grandfather arrived in Philadelphia in 1740. I do not think that any descendent has ever looked for information as to his birthplace, other than "the palatine area". As he came to America later than the more well-documented Poor Palatines to New York in the earlier part of the century, I am unsure as to how to begin a search for him in any of the germanic areas of Europe.

Any suggestions would be appreciated.

I am a direct descendant of Elizabeth Waltermire (Waldenmeyer). Her father was Georg (Jury) Waldenmeyer. She married John A. Garrett, son of Thomas of Great Nine Partners in St. Paul's Lutheran Church, Rhinebeck. From the dates they are part of the Palatines. I have searched for untold hours for more on John Garrett. I now believe that his father or grandfather might be the Palatines who first went to Ireland or England and then the US. I also am beginning to think the name was Gerrit or double t. Does anyone have information that would help in my search? John A. was born in 1747.Elizabetha was born in 1747 and was baptized in St. Peter's Lutheran Church, Rhinebeck (Stone Church)
Thank you.

original ships' lists

I've been very frustrated by the translation/transciption of ships' lists from Germany especially Palatine. Where do I find original lists? I think that some of my family names have been "Americanized" wrongly by transcribers and are ending up in the wrong databases. For example, I'm searching for Reel which may have been Ruhl (with umlaut over the u); and Strausser which may have been Strasser. I'd like to have a go at the original manifests and try to transcribe them myself. Anyone have any ideas where these are located ? Thanks, Lauren

"Three Ships" 1717 from Palatinate to Philadelphia

Does anyone know anthing about the Three ships that arrived at Philadelphia in 1717. I know for a fact that the Henkel family immigrated on one of these ships. They purchased land in New Hanover Twp., then Philadelphia County, Pennsylvania in 1718. The Geiger family also immigrated on this ship and bought land from the same person in 1718 in the same township. The Schneider family also bought land in 1718 from the same owner in the same town ship. These families aslo went to the same church which Rev. Anthony Henkel established which was the New Hanover Lutheran Church. ANY information would be greatly appreciated.

My Sincere Thanks,

Kyle Miller

Sep 1717 3 ships: Capt. Richard [164], Tower [91], & Ayers [108]

A noteworthy group of Germans arrived in the year of 1717. It was a group of Lutherans, headed by the Rev. Anthony Jacob Henckel and his son-in-law, Valentine Geiger. They arrived on one of the three vessels which reached Philadelphia in September 1717. On September 19, 1717, "Captain Richard, Captain Tower and Captain Eyers, waited upon the (Provincial) Board with the List of Palatines they had imported here from London; by which list it appeared Captain Richard had imported one hundred and sixty-four, Captain Tower, ninety-one and Captain Eyers, one
hundred and eight." In 1718, Anthony Jacob Henckel acquired a tract of 250 acres in Hanover township, where numerous members of this group settled. It was through the arrival of the three ships in 1717, upon one of which this group
came, that the attention of provincial authorities was first directed to the newcomers.
