Where to start looking for Bohemian documentation

Classification: Query
Surnames: Seyba
I've been very successful tracking parts of my family back 10 generations. However, my last name is Seyba, and it's giving me quite a few problems. I've tracked it to my great-grandfather who was born in New York. All of the other census cards I've found list people with that last name as being born in Bohemia. Can anyone give recommendations or point me in the right direction to track records from Bohemia? I've run into quite a few dead ends. I was told that the last name might have been shortened or changed when my family immigrated here but I haven't been able to find records on that either. Any hints or pointers would be much appreciated.
