I have a few more details on this story now. Apparantly, Sol Fleming and his brother were dating the same girl (unknown identity). It had obviously caused much jealousy and rivalry between the two. Sol must have felt that he was losing the battle, because one day he decided to put an end to the problem. He lured the girl into the woods for a walk, and when they were out of earshot of anyone else, he shot her. Well, it didn't take long for this girl's brother to form a posse and hunt down Sol (someone figured out that he did it). They found him in the woods, and riddled him with bullets--up to 200 according to the story. He fell into a depression in the ground such as that of an uprooted tree, and was found there by someone at a later date. I think the posse arrived on horseback.. Sol may have been on foot at the time. I believe this happened sometime between 1915-1920, again somewhere in Southeastern Ky, probably near Wheelwright. This is one of the reasons my great-grandfather, Garfield Johnson brought his family to Ohio. He was afraid his boys would get mixed up in some of the fighting that had been going on. If anybody knows anymore about this story or about Sol Fleming, please let me know. I would love to get the details on this straight so I can pass down this story. Thanks!
