I am available to help any person of Gypsy or Traveller ancestry; whether you be Ludar, Romnichel, Black Dutch, Cale, Rom, Hungarian/Slovak, Kaale, Erliya, or from any other Gypsy group, or if you are of Scottish or Irish Traveller origin, to trace your roots. I have the largest and only collection of historical and genealogical materials on American Gypsies and Travellers, painstakingly collected for over 35 years. I may not have every record available, but I know where to look for them. In the past when people have asked me to help with their genealogy I am usually able to come up with at least some of their relatives, and working together we can usually find many more. To contact me send a message either to my work address: Matt.T.Salo@ccmailcensus.gov or my home ssalo@capaccess.org The latter is also the headquarters of the Gypsy Lore Society, currently the only english language source of accurate information on American Gypsy and Traveller groups. In case you, wonder the ".gov" in my work e-mail address indicates I work for the US Census Bureau, but not that this government bureau is interested in you - it is not, it is just a place where I happen to work. Most of the data I have dates from before the WWII and a lot of it is census data from 1920 and earlier because Census records are held confidential for 72 years so that even I, as a Census worker, cannot see the later records until they too are 72 years old. In many cases I also have the ship passenger lists which may have those of your ancestors who first came to America. If you are interested in your roots and want to learn more about your past history and heritage just send me a message and I will respond as soon as I am able.
