Lost - Samurai Sword - While serving in the US Navy in 1945-46 in Shanghai China, my Dad had bought a samuari sword. He and a shipmate by the name of Thomas W. Smith who was from Alabama, were both on Liberty. They went to Treasure Island together to go drink milk of all things. He said they both really missed drinking milk so that's what they did. My Dad brought his samurai sword with him, he took it with him wherever he went. He couldn't carry it past the guards and said he could not fit it in his duffle bag. So Thomas offered to put it under the strap of his suitcase and carry it on the ship for him. They left Shangai June 12th on the US General Butner and arrived in San Francisco on June 24th. Thomas got off the boat before my Dad and mistakenly took the samurai sword with him, I guess he forgot he had it. Anyway, My Dad would love to get it back after all these years, it meant a lot to him.
If this sounds familiar and you're out there Thomas, please contact me - I would love to be able to surprise my Dad and get his sword back for him.
