Hi Jackie, Thanks for getting intouch... my dad, was in ' The Royal Engineers Brigade', he said that they lived 3 streets up from the baths and family club, i think he said that his camp was by the entrance, to the right as you go in ( if this helps...lol) ... he said your dads name doesnt ring a bell yet.. they left shortly after my brother died, in 1969... my dad went to see my brothers grave over there about 3-4 years ago, he said his camp is still there !!! thanks again... sharon xx

Me and my family were in Terendak during 1969. My father was Harry Prime, and my mother was Gladys. Both have sadly died but I clearly remember living there. I was 9 at the time and my brother was 7. I too would love to hear from anyone that was there at the time, although I am really sorry but I do not remember your father. My dad would probably have remembered him.

I don't even know if he knew my grandmother was pregnant. I have attached a picture of my gransfather. (this is the only one I have) Everyone seems to think I look somuch like him. I hope and pray someone can see this picture and contact me.

Thanks!

Message to Lyn Couter re Symes family in Malaysia
My husbands family owned a rubber plantation in KualaKetil Esate in Butterworth, Malaya in the 1920's.
They were interned in a POW camp in Singapore during the war. My husbands grandfather was Bertram Symes, he was married but we don't have any info on his wife. He also had a brother and a connection with Australia, but we don't know what that connection was. My husbands father John Edward Symes was born in Malaya in 1921, but was sent to England for schooling in the 1930's, he joined the army in 1938 and married Hazel Wadey in 1947. They had one son (my husband) Roger John Symes, he was born in 1949 in England. We now live in Spain. Is there a connection with our families??
Regards
Lyn Symes
