Classification: Query
Surnames: Morris, Robinson, McCoy
Hi Karen. Are you still active at rootsweb? I would be interested in finding out more about the book you referenced, and any other ways to find documentation of early US physicians. Could you look up these three names for me to see if they are listed?
I am looking for any records for a "physician" named William C. Robinson MD, b1824, m Sarah Morgan in 1848, and died in 1858. He was born, lived, died and is buried in Jasper Co GA.
His widow married Dr Allen P. Morris in 1859. Dr Morris was born in 1821 NC or GA, and was possibly living in 1850 in home of Dr A.W. McCoy in Russell, AL: perhaps interning and learning the profession from Dr McCoy. He was said to have been a business partner of Dr Wm C Robinson.
Dr Amos Ware McCoy was born in GA and may have known the Robinsons of Jasper and Newton County GA. Dr McCoy also had connections with an Allen and J.J. Morris who were said to have been teachers in his home, where he also had a group of young people living. I believe this Allen is Dr AP Morris who married Dr Robinsons widow.
I am trying to document any medical education, medical supply purchases, medical subscriptions to papers, medical patients or records, etc. for these three people.
I am trying to find out all that I can for each of them and their families. If anyone has any further ideas I would be appreciative to listen. Thanks for any help you can give.
Diane
