I have Charcot-Marie-Tooth disease. It is present in the Bennett line (West Virginia) in my family. My mother, daughter of Mattie Vale Bennett of Fayette Co. West Virginia, and her father Thomas Bennett, born in 1827 in Greenbrier Co. (West) Virginia, had clear symptoms of the disease. Several siblings of Mattie Bennett carried the disease and some of their children exhibited the symptoms. Since the disease was only named in the mid 1800s, anyone with symptoms before then may have only been known to have weak hands, legs and feet.
I would be interested in connecting with anyone whose family lived in Virginia or West Virginia, or who have Bennetts among their ancestors.
