Obtaining copy of medical license 1886 Iowa

The obituary of my gg grandfather, Dr.Caleb Archibald Montgomery of Avery, Monroe Co. Iowa, states," He graduated from the Council Bluffs Medical College of Council Bluffs Iowa, in 1876, and later took post graduate courses at the Keokuk Medical College in Keokuk,Iowa. He was licensed by the state of Iowa in 1886, that being the earliest date this state (Iowa)licensed medical practioners."
Could someone please offer some guidance on how I might go about obtaining a copy of his medical license, or any documentation. Today I have a son who is a doctor, and I would really like to have this info to frame and give to him. Any kind response will be appreciated.
