Early Mayo family of Normandy

Classification: Query
Surnames: Mayo, Mayeaux, Mayho, De Mayo,
I have been told that my Mayo line originally came from Normandy or France during the Norman Invasion and were granted lands in Cornwall, England for participating in the Battle of Hastings. This Mayo line later spread to other areas of England, but my line went from Cornwall in the mid-1500's to Marston St. Lawrence, Thorpe- Mandeville, and Middleton-Cheney in Northamptonshire, England. The surname of Mayo may have originated with a different spelling as perhaps Mayeaux or Mayho or De Mayo, etc. Does anyone have any research on this line back in Normandy, where they are said to have come from, but were originally Vikings?
