Hi Ben. Yes, it certainly is possible. I just worked it out for you. Here are a couple of ways of looking at this relationship:
Your 8th great-grandparent (grt-grt-grt-grt-grt-grt-grt-grt-grandparent) was also George Washington's grandparent.
Your 6th great-grandparent was a first cousin to George Washington.
Congratulations on your findings! You (or someone) must have done a lot of work!
And here I was excited when my third cousin once removed recently contacted me from Australia... ;-)
