What your images can mean to me

I am very grateful to the researchers and family members who post photos and any other information on their family trees. What I think people fail to realize is that every image you post turns up as a hint for every other person who has that ancestor in their personal tree. So adding a graphic that says "My direct Ancestor" or a picture of a sailing ship, because they emigrated that way, turns up as a hint on all the thousands of trees with that same ancestor. It means something to you personally but it's not pertinent to every person who claims that person as a ancestor. Please be thoughtful when adding graphic markers, and be sure they are useful and desirable to many and not just you. Save them for your tree at home, not the public one.
