Thanks for the response! I'm still a little unsure. For example, I have relatives that lived in Pennsylvania during colonial times. It doesn't seem right to put USA when documenting it. Also, the same goes for the time period when they declared their independence and when they officially because a part of the United States. Am I overthinking this? Is it standard to just use USA even though the United States hadn't been formed yet?
