Talking to myself again.
My solution (until someone suggests a better idea) for Part II, is to create a third John who marries Martha and note in his record that he could be either the son of George or William (with sufficient details to uniquely identify each). It not perfect - I can't generate trees for each possibility.
I'm using PAF for my main work, which does have the parent link options of: Biological, Adopted, Guardian, Challenged and Disproved. However, the method I use to share this information does not support these options.
