My advice would be to keep it simple. If the father and son used Sr and Jr, or didn't, with the exact same forename
and middle name, then just re-create them as Sr and Jr,
perhaps with parenthesis to indicate that htis was your doing, your assumption. If they used II and I, there probably was a III or more, and I'd leave this be, they would thank you if they could. When the same forenames are all you have, I'd assume that a different middle name probably existed, maybe never used, or possibly, the younger man had a family nickname that made designating Jr or II unnecessary and inconvenient. In the end, you would be best served keeping the names as you found them, unless and until better evidence emerges.
