"First man never has a chance", in a story, especially when you're talking to a Texan. In a book, "Astride the Old San Antonio Road", a Judge A.S. Broaddus, led some 200 people in the 1850's, from VA to TX in a wagon train some 2 MILES long! The story states it took them some 6 months to make the trip. Since the names, Anthony, Broaddus, Hill, Green, were in Caldwell, (East Texas) in the 1860's, I'm hoping they were all connected to that wagon train. It might have encouraged your group to make the trip at a later date. Do you connect to any of the names mentioned above?
