Hi everyone,

I'm a student at the University of Kentucky currently doing research on one of William Bickett's son's log homes in Raywick, KY. I'm hoping to nominate this home (which may have been William's son Anthony's home) as well as what is called the original William Bickett house to the National Register (if I can convince the current owner).
I'm looking for help from all you Bicketts (or Bickett researchers) who may have run into deeds with references to these homes - or any documents you may have seen with a map perhaps (even a sketch) of William's lands and how they were broken out for his seven sons (I do know he divided up his land for his sons *before* he died - so this info. is not in the inventory or settlement of his estate in the late 1820s). Also, I would love to track down the deed where William bought his original acreage from John Ray, one of Raywick's founding figures. I am trying to determine how to go with the nomination - I will probably try to nominate the house based on its relationship to the Catholic migration in Kentucky or possibly something relating to Maryland settlement patterns carried over to Kentucky. The other possibility is simply the amazing fact that log homes from two generations of Bicketts are still located in their original locations in Raywick (survived due to their exterior weatherboarding which was removed years ago; these homes need some work and if they're on the NR the owners can take advantage of our state tax credit). We'll see how it goes.
If you have any thoughts, potential good sources, deed book references, etc., give me a holler. I could possibly help you guys out some, too, as I'll be in and out of places like the Marion and Washington County courthouses.

Thanks so much,
Jenn in Lexington, KY
