My ancestor, Thomas Rice, was killed in the Dawson Massacre. He is buried with others from the massacre and the Battle of Salado Creek at Monument Hill State Historic Park. Each year, Texas Heroes Day is held in honor of all who participated in these battles. It is usually the 3rd Saturday in September. Thomas Rice's cousin, Elijah Garey, was also killed in the battle.
My website is www.anitastexasroots.com with information on the massacre.
