Cornell, Cornwall:
From Cornwall in England. The first one in Scotland appears to have been Robert de Cornewall who witnessed a charter in 1180.
William de Cornhal of Edinburghshire rendered homage in 1296.
William de Cornal 1316.
Richard Cornell was Archdeacon of Dunkeld in 1406 and professor of Canon Law at the University of St Andrews in 1410.
Sir John Cornwell was vicar of Telyne in 1450.
Johne of Cornewal was killed at Flodden in 1513.
John Cornuel was a witness in 1526.
Archibald Cornwall was hanged in Edinburgh in 1601, for trying to hang up a portrait of king James VI during a sale.
Donald Cornell was heir to Malcolm Cornell, burgess of Perth, 1604.
Marie Carnewall lived in Logie in 1674 and Duncan Cornel in Kippen in 1734.
There was a family named Cornwall at Bonhard in the 1400s, ending with Elizabeth Cornwall in 1763.
Other spellings: Cornale & Cornevale 1479, Cornewale 1483, Cornwale 1530.
