I've just checked the name on familysearch.org and there are a lot of entries for the name in Germany, and a quick search of Google turned up a reference to German weavers arriving in East Anglia in the 16th century. This fits quite well, because one of the earliest generations of the family (I have discovered) had a son called Bronson, which is as untypical a forename for that area as Bangle is a surname.
