Croatian nor Serbian names would never have a double N. If it were Croatian or Serbian it would be sp DANIC with a diacritic over the C / giving it the sound of dawn ich. This is a patronymic name based on the male given name Dane, the IC ending means son of. Most DANIC arr at Ellis Island were coming from Croatia.
There are only 2 listings for DANNIC, one Polish from Russia and one French. But then the first Croatian kingdom was located around what is now Krakow Poland!
