There is no way to print off Google News. If you have a newer computer, you may have a "snipping tool" that will cut off a section and you can keep it on your computer. You may be able to print off that, although I've never tried.

Another way to to take a "screen shot". Basically you position the newspaper article (it will only "copy" what is showing on your screen), hit the key "Print Screen" or Prt Sc (to the right of F12 at the top of your keyboard). There will be no confirmation. Then you open up "Paint", hit "edit" (top left), then "paste". Again, I'm not sure if you can print off that, but it can be saved to your computer.

Let me know if this works for you.

Hi Marlene,

There's a few old newspaper articles here; you may have to "drag" the paper towards the yellow highlight, as seen in the smaller paper on the right.

http://www.google.com/search?tbm=nws&hl=en&gl=us&amp...

Thankyou for the reply I have been in all the above sites - newspaper archives will not let me browse ( think they know I am tempted to join lol) I am working on quite few cemetery unmarked graves so I would be constantly bothering Mike :) but the offer is great. Think I will just try a month's trial subscription and see how it goes.
Thanks

I am looking for obits published in Manitoba Canada newspapers back to the 1800's if possible.
I went to Winnipeg Free Press and they have an archives
but it is a paid site. I have called them numerous times and can't talk to anyone?? Leave a message and no return call sent an email no reply? Does anyone use this site and if you find an obit you would like to print a copy of do you have to pay for it? I see they have a shopping cart ?? Death notices usally say next of kin and burial cemetery info. Hate to give them my credit card and then it is no good or can't contact them to cancel it either lol Genealogy bank looks like it is only United States papers.
Thankyou

Ashley, This afternoon I was told about your posts to assemble some family roots. Great work. I am a grandson of Dragutin Petrovic(h) and Matilda Perisic. In 2004 on a trip to Italy, I took the opportunity to also drive to Croatia to explore the area around Sunger and Mrkopalj. All I had were Draguin's and Matilda's names, but very quickly I managed to connect with the extended family there, who were very welcoming. So I have a considerable amount of information to share with you. Do you have a structured family tree file or site to work with?

Hi
I am trying to find out if my mother's half sister is still alive or if there are any living family of hers.
Her name was Grace Mathieson born 17th April 1923 in Belfast, Northern Ireland. She emigrated to Canada and married a Victor Stratton? Last nown to be living in Rexdale, Ontario in the 1970's but have not had any contact with her since her father Thomas Mathieson died in 1977 when she went home to Ireland for his funeral. This is the last known time for her to be alive.
If there is anyone who could point me in the direction of how to find out if she is still living or if she has any living family, then I would be most grateful for any information however small, as I live in the UK and do not know how to search for her in Canada.
Thanks In Advanced

Debby

I would really appreciate if someone could tell me how I could get a copy of this article. Background below:

As told to me by her nephew:

"My Aunt Sonia, as my father and his siblings, had status for entry into Canada as Russian refugees. My Aunt married my Uncle en route to Canada, He was a Polish refugee so they were no longer considered Russian and quotas for Poles were filled that year. Cuba and Argentina were the 2 countries allowing entries for Poles that year and as my uncle had some relatives there, they chose the latter. At that time, Argentina was richer and attracting more immigrants than Canada! The idea was that they would eventually move to Canada but they never did.

She married Shlomo Kaplan on leaving Europe and they settled in Buenos Aires, Argentina. She had 3 children.

She came twice to Montreal. She stayed for a few months each time.In 1953-4 alone and in 1965 with my uncle. I can't remember if it was the Star or the Gazette but in 65 they did a whole page article about her and how she got separated from the rest of the family."

Hello Stephanie,

No, I have not accessed an obituary for Henry Douglass. I understand that there were two Henry Douglasses who died in Hamilton 3 days apart. That complicates things when doing research from a distance. It is most kind of you to offer to look for me. If you should find two obituaries, perhaps you could send me both and I can sort them out.

The Henry Douglass in my family was s/o Robert and Jane Douglass, and was born in 1843 in Halton County, Ontario. He moved to Woolwich with his family and then to Southhampton but back to Hamilton, I believe. A family record says that he died 18 Jul 1896, age 53 yrs. 3 mos, 13 days. If you find a notice that seems to fit these parameters, it is probably him.

Thank you for your offer. Ethel Ingalls
Names of French papers in Monteregie 1700s-1800s?

I am researching my family, who lived in Laprairie starting around 1700, then later in St-Phillipe and St-Constant, and gradually migrated south toward the US border into St-Edouard, St-Jacques-le-Mineur, Napierville, and Sherrington throughout the 1800s. Can anyone tell me the names of historic newspapers from those areas during the 1700-1800s? Are any of these available online yet?

Post is old but if you are still looking; see below link for Ottawa area railroad history. Your dates do not match train accidents given (1909 most likely). As for the church fire, St-Viateur along with a few houses burned sometime in the 1920s to early 30s. I beleive it was caused by business fire that spread (cheese factory?) Haven't been able to factually verify yet.
http://www.railways.incanada.net/candate/ottawa.htm
