I found the following on the Swedish emigration DVD "Emibas" which MAY be your Frank. I think you'll be able to determine if it is or not fairly quickly by looking at this mans siblings and parents names. This is based on this family changing their last name after arrival.

Frans Gustaf, b. 12 OCT 1858 in Älmeboda, Kronobergs län, Småland. Emigrated 19 JUN 1868 from Botamål, Älmeboda, Kronobergs län, Småland with his parents and siblings.

Samuel Magnusson, b. 11 FEB 1828 in Älmeboda, Kronobergs län, Småland.
Johanna Olofsdotter, b. 27 NOV 1836 in Älmeboda, Kronobergs län, Småland.

Their children, and his siblings
Anna Christina, b. 12 SEP 1856 in Älmeboda, Kronobergs län, Småland.
Josefina, b. 16 NOV 1860 in Älmeboda, Kronobergs län, Småland.
Amanda Mathilda, b. 13 JUL 1863 in Älmeboda, Kronobergs län, Småland.
Carl Ferdinand, b. 19 DEC 1865 in Älmeboda, Kronobergs län, Småland.
Ida Gustava, b. 20 JAN 1869 in Älmeboda, Kronobergs län, Småland.
------------------------------------------------
I found the following on the Swedish online church books http://arkivdigital.net

Älmeboda AI:21 (1866-1870) Bild 475 / sid 464 (AID: v21534.b475.s464, NAD: SE/VALA/00470)

Samuel Magnusson, b. 11 FEB 1828 in Älmeboda, Kronobergs län, Småland.
Johanna Olofsdotter, b. 27 NOV 1836 in Älmeboda, Kronobergs län, Småland.

Their children, and his siblings
Anna Christina, b. 12 SEP 1856 in Älmeboda, Kronobergs län, Småland.
Frans Gustaf, b. 12 OCT 1858 in Älmeboda, Kronobergs län, Småland.
Josefina, b. 16 NOV 1860 in Älmeboda, Kronobergs län, Småland.
Amanda Mathilda, b. 13 JUL 1863 in Älmeboda, Kronobergs län, Småland.
Carl Ferdinand, b. 19 DEC 1865 in Älmeboda, Kronobergs län, Småland.
Ida Gustava, b. 20 JAN 1869 in Älmeboda, Kronobergs län, Småland.
------------------------------------------------
I hope its a match

I am not related to this family

Thank you so much Kaye for your hard work! This is perfect! My father-in-law was overjoyed to get the information. We will take your advice and contact the church to see if they have anything as well. The house the Brooberg family lived in is still standing and on the National Registry.

Again, thank you so much for taking the time to find this information!

Tracey

I was at the MN Historical Library today and was able to find two references to Frank Brooberg.

The Minneapolis Star
Saturday, October 9, 1937
page fourteen
Microfilm record Minneapolis STAR Oct. 1 Oct. 30 1937
Minnesota Historical Society
"Brooberg, Frank G. age 78 residing 727 E. 24th st passed away Thurs. Funeral services Mon. afternoon 2 o'clock at the residence. Mr. Brooberg at the residence Sunday morning. Interment Lakewood cemetery. Welander-Quist service."

Minneapolis Tribune
October 10, 1937
page 6
Microfilm record Minneapolis TRIBUNE Oct. 1 Oct. 15 1937
Minnesota Historical Society

"FRANK G. BROOBERG.
Funeral services for Frank G. Brooberg, 78, of 727 East Twenty-fourth street, who died at the Northwestern hospital, will be at 2 p. m. Monday at the residence. Burial will be in Lakewood cemetery. He was born in Sweden and had been a resident of Minneapolis 35 years. While a resident of Groton, S. D., he served one term as a state senator. He was a member of the Keystone Grain Co., and was a director of, and helped corporate Scandinavian American bank; and was a director, and on the executive committee of the Midland National bank at the time of his death. He was a member of the Odin club and the Messiah Lutheran church. Survivors are his wife; two daughters, Mrs. Carl E. Petri and Mrs. Hugh John Ruddy of Minneapolis; three sisters and two grandchildren."

There was at least one Swedish language paper at the time which may have an obituary but I don't read Swedish so I didn't look.

Northwestern hospital merged with another hospital and is now part of Abbott Northwestern hospital (FYI)

The Lakewood cemetery website is www.lakewoodcemetery.com (they have a search function if you'd like to located the burial site).

The American Swedish Institute, www.asimn.org, may also have information (since he appears to have been active in the area's Swedish community).

I assume the Messiah Lutheran church in the obituary is the Messiah Lutheran church in Minneapolis (there are three Messiah Lutheran churches in the Minneapolis area). Their website is www.messiahmpls.org. It might be worthwhile to contact them to see what records they have.

I hope this helps.

Kaye

Obit: Martha Hansdatter (Indrelie) Lee from rural Ellendale, MN

Ellendale newspaper
June 21, 1923

Widow of Late A.B. Lee Dies At Home Southeast of Ellendale Sunday Morning

Mrs. Martha Lee, widow of A.B.[Atle Botolfsen] Lee, died at the family home southeast of Ellendale, Sunday, June 17, at 3 o’clock in the afternoon. Death was caused by cancer of the stomach which had spread to adjacent organs. Mrs. Lee had been aware of her condition only since last fall when she went to Rochester for treatment and found that there was nothing to do. She had not been feeling well for a couple of years, but was not aware of the cause.

Martha Indrelie was born in Christiana, Norway, daughter of Hans Indrelie, born February 17, 1863. When 23 years of age she came to this country and went first to Fillmore county in Minnesota and from there to Goodhue County, near Kenyon, where she became acquainted with A.B.Lee. They were married June 1, 1887, and went to live on a farm near Oakland in Freeborn county. After about five years there they came to this vicinity and bought the farm just over the line in Freeborn county which has since been the family home.

Eight children were born to them, seven of whom survive, one daughter dying at the age of twelve many years ago. The survivors are Mrs. Otto Gullord of Flom, Minn, Mrs. Clarence Quamme of Kenyon, Minn; Nellie, Bennie, Helmer, Simon and Alma, who live on the home farm, with the exception of Helmer, who is proprietor of a restaurant in Ellendale. Two brothers, Iver Indrelie of Fosston and Wells [William] Indrelie, who lives on a farm near Faribault, are also left to mourn her loss. Mr. Lee passed away January 31, 1922.

Mrs. Lee was a devoted member of the Lutheran church and also an active worker in the auxilliary ladies society. She leaves many friends who will share the grief the members of the family feel over her loss. The funeral was held Wednesday at 1 o’clock from the house followed by services at the Lutheran church in Ellendale.

Submitter adds: Martha was born in Flåm Parish, Aurland Kommune, Sogn og Fjordane, Norway. Her mother was Marta Margrete Knutsdatter Dalbotten (spelled Dalsbotten in Norway).
The Douglas County News, Thursday, May 1, 1884, page 5, col. 2.

DISTRICT COURT.—The special term of the District Court convened Monday at 3:30 p.m., with Judge L. W. Collins presiding. The grand jury were sworn and charged by the judge, and proceeded to the investigation of the numerous crimes which have been committed since the last general term of court.
The first case taken up was that of the State vs. Louis Kapphahn and Bertholdt Arimont, charged with the murder of Niemvhenski on the 12th of August last. The defendants’ counsel, W. W. Erwin, stated that Kapphahn wished to withdraw his plea of not guilty, and would plead guilty of manslaughter in the second degree. The county attorney, Col. Jenkins, accepted the plea, stating that since Sam’l Thompson, whom he considered the principal in the tragedy, had been convicted of only that degree of manslaughter, he thought substantial justice had been done. Kapphahn accordingly plead guilty to manslaughter in the second degree and the judge sentenced him to four years and eight months in the penitentiary, the minimum of punishment allowed by the statute being four years. This is four months shorter than Thompson’s sentence, Kapphahn having been in jail nearly nine months.
In Arimont’s case a nolle prosequi was entered by the State and the defendant was discharged.
.....

Transcribed from microfilm copy of newspaper at Minnesota History Center, St. Paul, MN.
The Douglas County News, Thursday, October 4, 1883, p. 5, col. 2.

District Court commenced its session Tuesday afternoon with Judge Collins presiding. The officers in charge are H. K. White, clerk, H. Jenkins, county attorney, Ole J. Urness, sheriff, J. M. Hurlbut in charge of grand jury and Royal Colby deputy. Attorney A. P. Loomis was appointed by the Court to assist the county attorney in trying cases and before the grand jury. Challenges were interposed to five of the grand jurors by Attorney K. Nelson and they were excluded from the consideration of the charge of manslaughter against Kapphahn and others., In fact this is the only case on the calendar which creates any interest, some particulars of which were given several weeks ago. The civil cases are few in number and devoid of general interest. The only cases disposed of at the hour of going to press is the State vs.Chas. Anderson, charged with selling liquor to an habitual drunkard, appealed from the justice court, Osakis. The judgment of the justice court was reversed on insufficiency of complaint.
The grand jury brought in an indictment against Jack Brown, who is charged with larceny. Upon being arraigned he plead not guilty and G. L. Treat was appointed to defend him.
Mr. C. Cranston of Osakis and G.L. Treat of Alexandria were admitted to the bar.

The Douglas County News, Thursday, August 23, 1883, p. 4, col. 1.

N. P. Ward is among the lucky ones this week. An eleven pound girl arrived at his house last Monday.

Nels O. Nelson and Annie Anderson of Evansville were married in Alexandria by Judge McAboy last Friday.

….

Coroner McEwan, Dr. Vivian and County Attorney Jenkins went to Leaf Valley the first of the week and held a post mortem examination on the body of Martin Niemvhenske. They found one flattened bullet in the body and that both bullets had passed through the heart; also a gash or cut across the forehead. On complaint of County Attorney Jenkins, Messrs. L. F. Kapphahn, Samuel Thompson and A. Arimont were brought before Justice Hutchinson on Monday and the two former waived examination and gave bonds in $1,000 each to appear at the next term of district court. The latter, after examination, failed to give bonds and was remanded to jail.

Transcribed from microfilm copy of newspaper at Minnesota History Center, St. Paul, MN
