WALKERTOWN - Mr. Millard Blackburn "Black" Woods, 80, formerly of Walkertown, passed away Thursday, May 15, 2008, at the Nursing Center at Oak Summit where he was a resident. Mr. Woods was born in Forsyth County on Aug. 16, 1927, the son of the late Charlie Blackburn and Minnie Lawson Woods. He was of the Methodist faith. Millard had retired from R.J. Reynolds Tobacco Co. in 1983 with more than 35 years of service and was a veteran of the U.S. Army serving during World War II. A brother, John T. Woods, preceded Millard in death. Millard is survived by a sister, Mrs. Rosa Lee Styers, and her husband, Douglas Styers of Walkertown; a sister-in-law, Mrs. Dixie Woods of Winston-Salem; four nieces; and a nephew. A graveside service will be conducted Sunday, May 18, at Gardens of Memory in Walkertown. [edited]
