YOUNGSTOWN , Ohio - Fredric H. “Fred” Harrison, 64, passed away early Thursday morning, March 27, 2014, at his home following a courageous battle with lung cancer.
Fred was born Feb. 25, 1950, in Lansing, Michigan, a son of the late Howard and Eileen Osgood Harrison, and came to Youngstown, Ohio (Mahoning County) after being relocated by General Motors in 2004.
He was a 1968 graduate of Everett High School in Lansing, and was a decorated U.S. Army veteran of the Vietnam War, receiving both the Air Medal Award and the Purple Heart.
Fred worked locally since 2004, at the General Motors, Lordstown Plant, as a master electrician, retiring from the plant in 2011.
He was a member of Bible Baptist Temple in Campbell, and was a member of U.A.W. Union Local No. 112.
Fred enjoyed collecting firearms and was a member of the Single Action Shooter’s Society.
Mr. Harrison is survived by his wife, Darla Untch Harrison, whom he married Dec. 16, 2008; a son, Louis Harrison of Michigan; a daughter, Brenda Kirk of Columbus, Ohio; four stepchildren; and a brother, James Harrison of Tucson, Arizona.
A brother, Rob Harrison, preceded him in death.
Family and friends are welcome to attend a memorial service celebrating Fred’s life at 6 p.m. on Friday, April 5, at Bible Memorial Baptist Temple, 230 Lettie Ave., in Campbell, OH.
