Robert M. "Bob" Beckett, 67, of Midland, died on Monday, January 2, 2006, at a Midland hospital. Funeral services will be held at 10:00 AM Thursday, January 5, 2006, at the First Baptist Church in Cisco. Interment will follow at the Oakwood Cemetery in Cisco.
He was born on August 31, 1938, in Del Rio, Texas and married Dawn Mills on October 30, 1970 in Odessa, Texas. Bob was a proud member of the fightin' Aggie Class of 61'. Soon after graduating from Texas A&M he went to work for Shell Oil Company as a landman. During his tenure as a landman, he was the Division Landman (and later Regional Land Manager) for North American Royalties, Land Manager for Kenai Oil and Gas, and in his later years an independent landman until his retirement. He served as a Project manager for a large Italian construction company (Coger-Impresit) building a multi-story prison in Miami, Florida and as a Project Manager for a the State of Texas building a Texas prison in Abilene, Texas and also a prison in Gatesville, Texas. Mr. Beckett was a member of First Baptist Church of Midland, Texas and formerly a member of First Baptist Church of Cisco, Texas. He was a member of the American Association of Petroleum Landman, Permian Basin Association of Landman, and the Texas A& M Association of Former Students. Survivors include wife, Dawn Mills Beckett of Midland, Texas; two sons & daughter-in-laws, Brent & Stacy Hilliard of Midland, Texas and Hoot & Janecka Beckett of Little Rock, Arkansas; one daughter & son-in-law, Natalie & Glenn Johnson of Childress, Texas; one sister, Linda McQuilkin of Eastland, Texas; mother-in-law, Leona Moffitt of Midland, Texas; father-in-law, Louis Mills of Mesa, Arizona; five grandchildren, Tara Holder, Sterling Hilliard, Bradley Hilliard, Spencer Hilliard, and Sam Beckett . He was preceded in death by one daughter Lela Raye Beckett and his
parents.
