AUSTIN,TEXAS - Wilburn Earnest Heine , age 85, passed away Thursday March 15, 2007 after a brief hospital stay. Wilburn was born on April 18, 1921, on the same third-generation family farm in eastern Travis County, TXC where he lived and worked his entire life. He was the son of Willie Heine and Clara (Olle) Heine, and was preceded in death by his sister Edna (Heine) Nelson. Wilburn loved the life of farming and ranching. He was a true agrarian and a nurturer of the livestock that he raised. He served his country in World War II in the U. S. Army, stationed in the Philippine Islands and later became a charter member of the Pilot Knob VFW post #8925. He was a community leader, loved and respected by his neighbors in the small rural communities of Dry Creek, Elroy, Maha, and Creedmoor. He was a life-long member of Salem Lutheran Church. Wilburn is survived by his loving wife Halger. On February 26, 2007 the couple celebrated 60 years of marriage. Also surviving him in death is his son David Heine of Del Valle; his daughter, Marilyn Gary of Fort Myers, Florida; and four grandchildren; Allison Heine, Alexandria Heine, David Zachary Heine, and Kyle Gary. Vivian Lewis-Heine and Dennis Gary are also members of his surviving family. He was a beloved and generous husband, father and grandfather. He had a happy and full life down to his last days. He will be missed greatly by his natural family and the even larger family of community friends. The family will receive friends from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m., Sunday March 18th, at Cook-Walden Funeral Home, 6100 N. Lamar Blvd. Services will be held at 10:00 a.m., March 19th in the Colonial Chapel of Cook-Walden with burial following at Cook-Walden Capital Parks in Pflugerville, TX. The family will then meet with friends and neighbors at Salem Lutheran Church, 9223 FM 812 to celebrate his life.
