Kenneth Reeves Thomason, 84, of Greenville died Tuesday, October 23, 2007 at Presbyterian Hospital of Greenville. Funeral services will be 2:00 P.M., Friday at the Johnson Street Church of Christ under the direction of Coker-Mathews Funeral Home with Randy Daw officiating. Burial will follow at Memoryland Memorial Park.
Born April 1, 1923 in Greenville,TX he was the son of J. B. and Edith Aven Thomason. He served in the U. S. Army Medical Corps during World War II and he was a graduate of East Texas State Teachers College in Commerce, Texas. He was employed by Lone Star Gas Company in McKinney, Texas until 1956 when he became co-owner and operator the Thomason TV and Appliance Store in Greenville. He later retired from E-Systems in Greenville after 25 years of service. Following retirement, he became a real estate broker.
He was a long-time member of the Johnson Street Church of Christ, serving as both a deacon and an elder. He also spent over 40 years as a Bible Class teacher. He had a great love of singing and taught a youth singing class for many years.
Loved and admired by his family, he is survived by his wife of 57 years, Dottie Reynolds Thomason, his daughter and son-in-law, Janet and Charlie Adams, and his son and daughter-in-law, Keith and Vickie Thomason, all of Greenville. Affectionately known as Da-Da, he is also survived by five grandsons- Erik Adams, Brandon Adams, Jason Thomason, Jeffery Thomason and Jacob Thomason, and two great-grandsons – Kaidon Adams-Ferrell and Cooper Adams. He is also survived by a brother and sister-in-law, Jerry and Evelyn Thomason of Wills Point, Texas, and a sister Janie McInnis of Greenville. He was preceded in death by his parents, a brother James Thomason and a sister, Vodene Ragsdale.
Pallbearers will be his grandsons and family friend, Andy Garner. Honorary pallbearers will be his friends Jack Wallace, Justin Norris, C. W. Spainhour, R. C. Ottwell and Richard Hester.
Visitation will be from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM on Thursday, October 25, 2007 at the funeral home.
