DAFELDECKER, Mark Joseph, 49, of Odessa,WI passed away September 17, 2005, in Milwaukee, Wis., where he was to watch his daughter play soccer for the University of South Florida. He is survived by his wife, Cheryl Temple Dafeldecker; a daughter, Erin; a son, Colin, all of Odessa; mother, Joan Dafeldecker of Neptune, N.J.; brother, Drew of Eatontown, N. J., and Paul of Neptune, N.J.; sister, Ruth (Bob Malone) of West Belmar, N.J.; father-in-law and mother-in-law, Bob and Lydia Temple of Lutz; brother-in-law, Charles Temple; sister-in-law, Dora Temple O'Rorke; niece, Jaclyn; and nephew, Carson O'Rorke, all of St. Petersburg.

Mark was born in Newark, N.J., the son of Joan Diehm Dafeldecker and the late John J. Dafeldecker. The family moved to Neptune in 1964. A 1973 graduate of Neptune High School, he attended West Chester ( Pennsylvania) State College before finishing his degree work in elementary education at the University of South Florida in Tampa. Mark earned his Master of Education degree from the University of South Florida in 1987.

He taught for nine years before being appointed assistant principal at Palm River Elementary School in 1991. While teaching at Northwest Elementary School in 1990 he earned Teacher-of-the-Year recognition and was selected as one of seven finalists for Hillsborough County Teacher-of-the-Year Honors. In 1995 he was appointed principal at Palm River and became principal at Northwest Elementary School in Tampa in 1998.

Mark was active in the Recreation Soccer League as a coach and in the Florida Olympic Development Program as an instructor.

A funeral Mass will be celebrated 7 p.m. Monday at St. Lawrence. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to a Soccer Scholarship Fund to be set up at a later date.
