Francisco Celestino Martinez Jr., also known as “Frank” or “Tino,” was born March 29, 1931, in Buda,Texas in a one room dirt floor home. He was two months ahead of time, kept warm with old fire irons and blankets. He was raised in Buda and San Marcos Texas. He passed away on Nov. 5, 2008. A graduate of San Marcos High School, he received his Bachelors and Masters from SWT University (now known as Texas State). He was also so proud to be a U.S. Army Veteran of the Korean War. He was called “Nature Boy” growing up, so supporting and conserving Wild Life and Nature like the San Marcos River was important to him.Raised by his loving mother Elia Leonides Trevino-Martinez and father Francisco Celestino Martinez Sr., he has now gone to be with them and also an older brother Abraham Agustine Martinez Sr. and Maria Eva Muniz Martinez. And also three siblings who passed as babies Edith,Moses, and Efraien during The Great Depression. He was a great person for his people and loved God dearly. A great historian for Spanish American and Native American History here in “Texas,” Once known by the Spanish Settlers (over 500 years ago the Martinez family) as Tejas De Arregon. His grandmother “Grandma Chinta” who brought him into the world said “He would be a Great Man of Knowledge and Wisdom of God” because he was born facing the stars, up. (Unlike most babies facing down.) She was a full blooded Lipan (tribe) Apache (nation) American Indian she taught my father many important things of life, earth, heaven (The one great God in the sky.)The Lord has truly blessed us as a family through the heart of Jesus Christ in love and life whom Frank loved us, his family, greatly. In return we all Loved him: our Daddy, Granpa Pino, Tio, Uncle, Great Uncle, and Brother very much.
